What should be Noted During the PVC Injection Molding Process

In the process of PVC injection molding, to ensure product quality and smooth production process, the following key points need to be noted:

Raw material selection and preparation: Firstly, ensure that the PVC raw materials used are of qualified quality and free of impurities. As needed, auxiliary materials such as plasticizers and stabilizers can be added appropriately, but the amount added should be strictly controlled to avoid affecting the physical properties and chemical stability of the product.

Temperature control: PVC is a heat sensitive resin, and special attention should be paid to temperature control during the injection molding process. The temperature of the melting machine barrel should be controlled within an appropriate range, generally between 180 and 210 ℃. Excessive temperature may cause PVC to overheat and decompose, producing toxic gases that affect product quality. When the temperature of the material barrel reaches the set value, the cooling device should be started in a timely manner to maintain temperature stability.

Injection speed and pressure: The control of injection speed and pressure is crucial for the quality of the finished product. The injection speed should be controlled in multiple stages, starting slowly and gradually increasing as the molding area increases to avoid cracking and shrinkage marks. Meanwhile, the back pressure should be controlled at around 1MPa, as excessive back pressure may cause PVC to overheat and decompose.

Mold design and maintenance: The design of the mold should conform to the characteristics of PVC injection molding, such as the mold mouth being larger than the injector mouth, the side gate should be selected for the sprue, and the circular runner should be selected for the runner. The mold should be kept clean during use to avoid impurities affecting product quality.

Maintenance of screw and barrel: It is recommended to use PVC specialized screws and adjust the screw speed according to production needs. In addition, it is necessary to regularly clean the machine barrel to prevent material residues from affecting the production of the next batch of products.

Shutdown operation: Before shutting down, all PVC materials inside the injection molding machine barrel should be discharged, and the barrel should be cleaned with appropriate cleaning materials (such as polystyrene, polyethylene, or general-purpose ABS resin) to ensure that the materials inside the barrel are clean and free of impurities during the next startup.

Safety and environmental protection: During the injection molding process, attention should be paid to safe operations to avoid burns or mechanical injuries from high-temperature materials. At the same time, attention should be paid to environmental protection issues, and waste and exhaust gases in the production process should be handled reasonably to ensure that the production process meets environmental requirements.
