ABS plastic injection molding refers to the process of using ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene copolymer) plastic raw materials for injection molding. The following are the main steps of ABS plastic injection molding:
1. Raw material preparation: Ensure that the moisture content of ABS raw materials is controlled below 0.13% to ensure stability and product quality during the injection molding process.
2. Loading: Put the processed ABS particles into the hopper of the injection molding machine.
3. Heating and melting: The mold is aligned and closed with the injection system through the locking system of the injection molding machine. Then entering the heating and melting stage, it is necessary to control parameters such as melting temperature, pressure, and time to melt ABS particles into a liquid state in the injection cavity. Note that the thermal degradation temperature of ABS materials is relatively low, generally between 220 and 250 ° C. It should be avoided to exceed this temperature range to prevent an increase in melt viscosity and injection molding difficulties.
4. Injection molding and pressure maintenance: After melting is completed, the injection molding machine begins to inject liquid ABS into the mold. After the injection is completed, a certain amount of pressure should be maintained to ensure that the filling material fully adheres to the mold. The choice of injection pressure depends on the size, structure, and thickness of the parts. For small, simple, and thicker parts, lower injection pressure can be used.
5. Cooling solidification: After completing the pressure retention, the injection molding machine will no longer apply any pressure. ABS will quickly cool down inside the mold, thus solidifying and forming quickly.
6. Mold opening and unloading: Under the control of the injection molding machine, the mold separates and pushes the formed components out of the mold. At the same time, it is necessary to reset the mold for the next filling.
7. Subsequent processing: Due to the hardness of ABS, it is not easy to produce burrs, but attention still needs to be paid to processing. In addition, due to the presence of a certain shrinkage rate during the ABS curing process, sufficient reserve needs to be left to ensure that the product size meets the design requirements.
